What is Stress? Stress is a term used to define the body’s automatic physiologic reaction to circumstances that require behavioral adjustments.

When confronted by a threat, whether physical or emotional, real or perceived, the hypothalamus gland that is situated in the center of your brain, causes the sympathetic nervous system to release epinephrine and norepinephrine, also known as adrenaline and noradrenaline, into your body. When released these messengers cause your metabolism, heartrate, blood pressure, breathing and muscle tension to heighten, also known as your fight or flight response.
